The answer is YES! You should definitely use an indoor tanning lotion when tanning indoors.
The main reason is to help keep essential nutrients in the skin, and to keep it moisturized during the tanning process. Dry skin sheds from the body, and when your skin sheds it will take your tan with it. By keeping your skin moisturized your skin will tan more evenly and you will maintain your tan longer.
Another reason for using indoor tanning lotion is to accelerate the effects of your tanning session. There are many types of lotions, which will help you achieve your desired results.
Accelerator Lotion- An Accelerator is a base lotion. They are used to maintain moisture and boost melanin production. Using an accelerator will only get your skin as dark as it can “naturally” get. To go beyond your natural level you will need to use a lotion with Bronzer or Tingle.
Bronzing Lotion- A Bronzer is a tanning lotion (normally designed for a tanning bed) that contains either a self-tanner or a bronzer in it. What this does is helps speed up the tanning process. When used correctly a bronzer tanning lotion can really expedite the tanning process and give a nice glow. We highly recommend using a bronzer if you are looking for more than a base tan.
Tingle Lotion- Tingle is an ingredient that is added to some lotions to stimulate the epidermal layer of the skin. This brings the blood closer to the surface of the skin, and because blood brings melanin with it you experience a darker tanning experience. Tingle is recommended for the experienced tanner.
